We are starting a project in Haiti. The focus is to help the people of Haiti live healthy and productive lives while encouraging economic growth. We are aiming to make positive and durable changes in the lives of children, families, and communities. We are launching a different kind of community center, The Neo-Centre where members will be provided with opportunities to build long-term relationships and we’ll support them in obtaining employment, education and housing. This is based on the ICCD Clubhouse model. Areas to be addressed:
· A Work-structured Day: Helping individuals feel that they are productive, we’ve established the work-ordered day in which the talents and abilities of members are recognized and utilized within the Center.
· Empowerment: We are instilling a sense of empowerment where members are invited to participate in the decision- making process of the Centre.
· Employment Programs: Skills are needed for people to have opportunities to obtain paid employment, we offer hands-on vocational training in areas of technology, clerical, data entry and more. We are working to build relationships with local businesses so that we can offer a work transition program.
· Education: Assistance in accessing community-based educational resources.
· Housing: Assistance in securing and sustaining safe, decent and dignified housing.
· Leisure Activities: Leisure and recreation is important to foster healthy productive lives, evening/weekend social and recreational even.
